Guide
Crafting is confirmed at the structural level — stations, recipes and icons exist — and unpublished at the level of ingredients. This guide covers what you can plan around today.

Short answer
How does crafting work in Hawthorn?
Hawthorn has crafting stations and recipes for both furniture and food, with dedicated recipe icons. The Summer 2026 build added new recipes in both families.
What is not public: which station makes what, and what any recipe costs. Treat crafting as a pipeline you are setting up rather than a list to optimise.
NEARstudios has confirmed exactly two recipe families so far, and they map onto two different parts of the game:
Both families got new recipes in Summer 2026, and both had new icons added, which suggests the UI side of crafting was being actively worked on.
Because ingredient lists are unknown, the useful way to think about crafting is as a pipeline with four stages. Each stage has a known bottleneck you can plan around:
In co-op, stages 1–2 are the Explorer’s job, stage 3–4 are the Builder and Host’s.
This is the loop most new players miss. Crafted furniture goes into homes; villagers care about the furniture and decor in their home; happy days accumulate into Morale; Morale measures how content a villager is with the village as a whole.
In other words, crafting is a direct input into the slowest and most valuable stat in the game. That is why the studio listed wall hanging as a building-system feature — it expands the decor surface area that crafting can fill.
The feedback delay is the trap: Happiness reflects one day, Morale accumulates over time, so a decor mistake may not show up for a while and will take a while to undo.
A crafting calculator needs three things: a complete recipe list, exact ingredient quantities, and station rules. Hawthorn has published none of them. Shipping one would mean inventing the game’s economy, which is worse than shipping nothing.
What exists instead: the Searchable Database, which tracks every confirmed item category with its verification state, and the tools roadmap, which explains what needs to be true before a calculator appears. Short version — when NEARstudios publishes numbers that can be independently re-derived, the calculator ships.
